NEPTUNE includes patients presenting with significant proteinuria with a clinical indication for a kidney biopsy. Visceral epitelial cells (also known as podocytes) are in the Bowman's capsule in the kidneys. The capsule (also known as Glomeruli) filters blood and separates proteins and large molecules. Membraneous Nephropathy is a form of Nephrotic Syndrome, which is closely associated with protein leaking from Glomeruli into urine.
